The Valley of the Kings resembles a living fairy tale nestled within a mountain, housing the treasures and tombs of numerous kings and queens from the New Kingdom period (1570-1070 BC). It contains up to 63 tombs, including around 20 belonging to renowned rulers such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, Hatshepsut, Ramses VI, and others.
The best-preserved and most comprehensive example of ancient Egyptian architecture is Djeser-Djeseru, the "Holy of Holies," the Temple of Hatshepsut. It was carved into a mountainside around 1479 BC over a period of 15 years to honor Amun, the creator god, and to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments and legacy of Queen Hatshepsut (1550-1070 BC).
The Colossi of Memnon, one of Luxor's most remarkable monuments, was transported over 700 km to Cairo. Weighing 720 tons and standing 18 meters (60 feet) tall, it was originally created during the reign of Pharaoh Amenhotep (1386 – 1350 BC) and later restored in 199 AD.
You will have your lunch then head to:
Luxor houses the renowned Karnak temple complex, which served as the spiritual and religious center of Upper Egypt and was regarded as the most sacred site. It is recognized as the largest open-air museum worldwide, constructed between 2055 BC and 100 AD to honor gods such as Ptah, Osiris, Isis, and primarily the Theban triad.
At the end of your day tour to Luxor and Soma Bay, you will be transported back to your hotel in Soma Bay by a private air-conditioned car.
