We will collect you from your hotel in Cairo and accompany you with our expert tour guide in a private air-conditioned vehicle to explore the top historical highlights of Islamic Cairo, including:

Salah El Din Citadel

Salah El-Din Citadel is one of the most renowned military fortresses built in the Middle Ages, strategically positioned to oversee the cities of Cairo and Al Fustat, thus offering significant defensive advantages. Constructed in the 12th century to protect Cairo from the Crusaders, the Citadel also served as the administrative center during the rule of the Ayyubid, Mamluk, and Ottoman dynasties.

Mohamed Ali Mosque

The Mohamed Ali Mosque is prominently situated at the highest point within the Cairo Citadel. It was commissioned by Mohammed Ali Pasha in 1830 AD and its construction continued until his passing in 1848 AD. The mosque's exterior design was inspired by the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul, making it one of the most important Islamic landmarks in Cairo.

Lunch Time

Lunch will be served at a nearby restaurant, followed by a visit to:

Sultan Hassan Madrassa and Mosque

The Sultan Hassan Madrassa and Mosque stands as one of the most exceptional examples of early Mamluk architecture, constructed between 1356 AD and 1363 AD. Built from massive stone blocks, the mosque represents the pinnacle of architectural achievements during the Mamluk era.

Al Rifa'i Mosque

The Al Refaie Mosque in Cairo is another remarkable Islamic monument, established by Khoshiar Hanim, the mother of Khedive Ismail. Construction commenced in 1869 AD and was completed in 1911 AD. However, building activities were halted for approximately 25 years, from 1880 to 1905 AD. The mosque also functions as the burial site for members of Mohamed Ali's family.

Ibn Tulun Mosque

The Ibn Tulun Mosque is the oldest and largest mosque in Cairo, built between 876 and 879 AD by Ahmed Ibn Tulun, who was appointed governor of Al Fustat by the Abbasid Caliph. The mosque's interior design reflects Abbasid architectural influences, featuring beautifully decorated arches and a spacious courtyard.

Al Muizz Street

Al Muizz Street offers a captivating journey through Cairo's vibrant historical wonders. This remarkable cultural landmark highlights the famed Golden Street of Cairo, established in the 10th century AD during the Fatimid era. Muizz evolved into a magnificent labyrinth featuring some of the city's most extraordinary monuments, artifacts, and residences.

Khan El Khalili Bazaar

Khan El Khalili Bazaar is a historic and famous market situated in the heart of Cairo. It was established as a major trading hub during the Mamluk era. Originating in the 14th century, the bazaar is now filled with numerous cafes and restaurants, including El Fishawy, the oldest café in the city.

At the end of your day trip, we will transport you back to your hotel.
