This obelisk is one of the most significant in Egypt, despite never being completed. Commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut (1508–1458 BC), it was intended to be the largest obelisk ever erected by a ruler at the Karnak Temple. Standing 41.75 meters (137.0 feet) tall, it was designed to reach the sky.
