The Great Pyramid

The Great Pyramid of Giza is an enduring masterpiece renowned as the only surviving wonder among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was designed and built over 20 years by Vizier Hemiunu around 2600 BC to serve as a tomb. The pyramid reaches a height of 147 meters (481 feet), weighs approximately 6 million tons, and contains several advanced internal chambers, including the King’s Chamber and the Grand Gallery.

The Great Sphinx

The Great Sphinx of Khafre (2558 – 2532 BC) was sculpted around 2500 BC from a single limestone block to serve as the spiritual protector of Giza, featuring the body of a lion and the face of Pharaoh Khafre. It also bears the famed Dream Stele of Thutmose IV, created in 1404 BC.

Memphis City

The remarkable city of Memphis was the heart of ancient Egypt during the Old Kingdom, established in 2925 BC by Pharaoh Menes under the sacred guardianship of Ptah, the god of craftsmanship and art. The name Memphis was translated as “Aigyptos,” which eventually became the basis for the modern name "Egypt".

Saqqara Step Pyramid

The remarkable Saqqara Step Pyramid, designed by Imhotep, features six steps and stands 62 meters tall. Constructed between 2670 BC and 2650 BC, it served as the burial complex for Pharaoh Djoser.

The Aswan High Dam was constructed in the 1960s and 1970s to regulate annual flooding, store water in Lake Nasser, and generate electricity.

The Unfinished Obelisk

The impressive unfinished Obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut (1508-1458 BC), called “Tekhenu” meaning “To Pierce the Sky,” exemplifies ancient Egyptian artistry and engineering. It stands 42 meters tall and weighs approximately 1,200 tons.

The revered Philae Temple served as a sanctuary dedicated to Isis, the goddess of motherhood, consort of Osiris, and mother of Horus. In the 1960s, UNESCO relocated the entire temple to Agilkia Island as part of a preservation effort.

Abu Simbel Temples

The timeless Temples of Abu Simbel were built for Ramses the Great (1303 – 1213 BC) to commemorate his enduring legacy. The first temple, constructed in the 3rd century BC, celebrates his triumph at the Battle of Kadesh, the signing of the earliest known peace treaty, and hosts the annual sun festival on October 22 and February to honor the ancient Egyptian deities Amun, Ra Horakhty, and Ptah. The second temple expresses his profound affection for his wife Nefertari. Both temples were relocated, along with the Philae temple, to Agilkia Island by UNESCO in the mid-1960s.
