The magnificent Abu Simbel Temples are an extraordinary work of art created by Pharaoh Ramses the Great (1279-1213 BC) to immortalize his legacy and express his love and devotion to his queen, Nefertari. The walls depict scenes from the Battle of Kadesh, which concluded with the signing of the earliest known peace treaty in 1247 BC.
