Giza Pyramids Complex

Dating to the Old Kingdom (2686–2134 BC), the complex includes three pyramids, the Sphinx, and the Valley Temple.

The Great Pyramid

Commissioned by Pharaoh Khufu (2609–2584 BC), this 147 m tall pyramid was built in 20 years using 2.3 million limestone blocks. It houses chambers like the King’s and Queen’s.

The Great Sphinx

Carved for Pharaoh Khafre (2558–2532 BC), the limestone Sphinx combines a lion’s body with a king’s face. The Dream Stele was added in 1401 BC by Thutmose IV.

The Valley Temple

Built around 2600 BC, the Valley Temple was used for mummification rituals of the 4th dynasty royals.
