Valley of the Kings

This royal necropolis from the New Kingdom (1570–1070 BC) contains 63 tombs of pharaohs including Ramses II, Hatshepsut, Amenhotep I, and Tutankhamun. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979.

Hatshepsut Temple

Queen Hatshepsut’s temple, dating to 1479 BC, was built to honor Amun and her reign. Known as Djeser-Djeseru, it is a masterpiece of New Kingdom architecture.

Colossi of Memnon

These 18-meter statues of Amenhotep III once guarded his mortuary temple. Damaged by an earthquake in 27 BC, they were reconstructed in 199 AD and became famous for the “singing” phenomenon noted by the Greeks and Romans.
